The Scheme

Helping to discover, protect and celebrate the Carneddau.

The Carneddau Landscape Partnership Scheme is a 5-year programme to help conserve the natural and cultural heritage of the Carneddau. Launching in 2020, the scheme is hosted by Eryri National Park Authority, and has been made possible by a £1.7m grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Engaging people and communities

We are helping people and communities surrounding the Carneddau to connect with the landscape, through learning about nature, history, how humans have shaped the area, but also how it has shaped us.

Protecting special qualities

The Carneddau is rich in wildlife and steeped in history. We aim to protect not only the natural environment but also better understand and share how people have used and lived in the Carneddau over thousands of years.

Celebrating living heritage

We want to tell the story of the Carneddau through sharing cultural knowledge, from folklore to the significance of archaeological monuments, celebrating local traditions, ensuring the persistence of native place names, and recording people’s stories before they are lost.
